Claudia Moddelmog untersucht in ihrer Dissertation anhand der Stiftungen von fünf königlichen Stiftern, was aus ihrer Intention im Laufe der Zeit geworden ist. Dabei tritt in faszinierender Weise zu Tage, wie elastisch tatsächlich die Stiftungen auf äußeren Veränderungsdruck reagierten und doch im Kern mit sich identisch blieben. Sie untersucht die Stiftungswirklichkeit vom Mittelalter bis in die Gegenwart. Ihre Fallstudien behandeln König Heinrich I. bzw. dessen Gemahlin Mathilde und Quedlinburg, die Jahrtagsstiftung Heinrichs V. für seinen Vater in Speyer, die Geschichte der Memorialpraxis im Kloster Königsfelden, das Elisabeth von Görz-Tirol zum Gedenken an ihren Gemahl Albrecht I. errichtete, sowie zwei verschiedene Stiftungen Friedrichs III. in Wiener Neustadt und Andernach.
